1952 Singer 128-23 Portable Electric in Bentwood Case

This is a 1952 Singer Model 128-23 sewing machine head in a nice bentwood case.  The 128's are 3/4 size machines - they are smaller than a model 66 or 127, but larger than a model 221 Featherweight.  This one has what is referred to as "black" plating - it is a blueing process that was used when chrome was scarce.  The face plate, the slide plates, and even some of the accessories were supplied this way instead of the "standard" chrome plated parts.  This machine also has the "krinkle" finish - a very durable, slightly bumpy finish that wears extremely well over time.  Please see the photos below of the machine and case.

Below are two photos that show a comparison of two model 128's.  On the left is a 1923 Model 128 hand crank machine with the La Vencedora decal pattern and its bentwood case, and on the right is the above model 128-23 and its case.
