Simply Art © Simply Basic © Miniature Doll Knitting Pattern “A Simple Poncho” For A 5-3/4 Inch Female Doll, 1:12 Scale
My miniature doll patterns are inspired by and have been written originally for representing an aspect of my own life. I am creating a “Heritage House” which is a 1:12 scale doll house that depicts my life, my son’s childhood, and which will become a family heirloom for my son and his family to one day inherit. My patterns do reflect our lives, in that they are very simple items of clothing. We live simply, without a lot of frills. I feel my patterns are easy enough for the beginning miniature knitter, although they are also of course appropriate for those with more experience with knitting in miniature. Basic knitting knowledge is expected, and awareness of the truly tiny size of these stitches is a must. This pattern is called “A Simple Poncho”. It is easy to knit on two size 0 double-point needles. The pattern includes the poncho pattern and a pattern for a matching hat. Knit with fingering-weight yarn on size 0 (2 mm) (UK size 14) needles. The doll shown modeling the poncho is a Heidi Ott adult female doll. The sample shown, knit in a classic grey wool, may also be knit with hand-spun wool, as shown with the brown poncho example. The brown poncho was knit with hand-spun Bluefaced Leicester wool, and makes the poncho look and fit more like a full-sized bulky-weight poncho
