“Men's Beach-Comber Shorts” For A 6-Inch Male Doll, 1:12 Scale
My miniature doll patterns are inspired by and have been written originally for representing an aspect of my own life. I am creating a “Heritage House” which is a 1:12 scale doll house that depicts my life, my son’s childhood, and which will become a family heirloom for my son and his family to one day inherit.
My patterns do reflect our lives, in that they are very simple items of clothing. We live simply, without a lot of frills. I feel my patterns are easy enough for the beginning miniature knitter, although they are also of course appropriate for those with more experience with knitting in miniature. Basic knitting knowledge is expected, and awareness of the truly tiny size of these stitches is a must.
This pattern is called “Men’s Beach-Comber Shorts”. This pattern is knit with size 0000 (4/0) (UK size 18) (1.25 mm) needles and fingering-weight wool. These shorts may also be knit as full-length pants.
The doll shown modeling the shorts is a Heidi Ott adult male doll. Here on Cape Cod, this style of knee-length shorts are a staple in the casual weekend wardrobe, but of course, shorts can be a staple in any well-dressed doll’s wardrobe.

Materials: Knit with fingering-weight wool on size 0000 (1.25 mm) (UK size 18) needles. Sized to fit a 6-inch adult male doll. Additional notions needed: 1 spare needle to use as a stitch holder or 1 stitch holder 1 size 4/0 snap closure 1 size 22 Tapestry needle for sewing seams Stitch knowledge required: Knit, purl, increase knit-wise, knit 2 together, bind off. |
