Worsted-Weight Hat Knitting
Pattern
This pattern is for a very easy-to-knit basic hat pattern using worsted-weight yarn and one circular needle. Two lengths of the same size needle are used. All knitting is completed with one circular needle for the basic hat, but if you prefer to use double-pointed needles to finish the crown, the pattern is marked for beginning their use.
This is a wonderful basic hat pattern, in three sizes, small, medium and large. The size small hat will fit a head circumference of 18 to 19 inches, the size medium will fit a head circumference of 20 to 21 inches, and the size large hat will fit a head circumference of 22 to 24 inches. This is a fast and easy-to-knit hat project in a medium-weight yarn.
The sample hats above were knitted with Lion Brand Fisherman yarn. Any worsted-weight yarn may be used with this pattern.

Materials Needed to complete the pattern: Size 6 circular needle in lengths 16 and 11 inches (4 size 6 double pointed needles are needed if choosing to finish the crown with these needles) (Note: if you wish to have a tighter ribbing, size 5, 16 inch circular needle will be needed) Worsted-weight yarn, 2 ounces total weight for sizes small or medium, 2-3/4 ounces for size large Darning needle
Stitch knowledge required: Knit, purl, slip stitch for casting on, knit 2 together for decreasing |
